Psalm 1:4
The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
Genesis 27:22
So Jacob went up to his father Isaac, who felt him and said, "The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau."
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God-what is good and acceptable and perfect.
John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life."
III. Meditation: As the wind drives the chaff
O God, forgive us,
for as Jacob deceived his father,
we are deceitful.
Forgive us,
for we conform to the world around us
and resist your transforming renewal.
Forgive us,
for we walk in darkness,
not in your light.
Forgive us,
for we deserve to be blown away
as the wind drives the chaff.
Forgive us, renew us, and help us discern your will-
what is good and acceptable and perfect-
that we may walk transformed in the light of life.
