God, you stretch the measuring line over us
and hang the plummet.
We do not measure up to your standards.
We do not judge in favor of the poor and oppressed;
we favor the privileged (ourselves included).
We forget that you judge our judging.
In the end we shall die like mortals.
Keep us from seeking our own advantage;
cast out the demons who bar our way to you.
and hang the plummet.
We do not measure up to your standards.
We do not judge in favor of the poor and oppressed;
we favor the privileged (ourselves included).
We forget that you judge our judging.
In the end we shall die like mortals.
Keep us from seeking our own advantage;
cast out the demons who bar our way to you.
