It is true: foxes
have holes, birds have nests;
but Jesus had no
place to lay his head--
and neither do
refugees from war,
orphans made by
HIV-AIDS,
or all the homeless
poor.
We do not want to
hear more preaching
about what we should
do to help.
We prefer to hear about how
we are divinely
favored--
and entitled to enjoy
all the benefits.
How long can
we expect angels
to hold back the
winds
of our destruction, O
God?

"Do

Rev. 7:1
After
this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back
the four winds of the earth so that no wind could blow on earth or sea or
against any tree.
Luke 9:57-58
As they
were going along the road, someone said to [Jesus], "I will follow you
wherever you go." And Jesus said to
him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of
Man has nowhere to lay his head."
