O gracious God:
You are the one who
is good,
whose steadfast love
endures forever.
You are the one whom
we must glorify
through our words and
through our works;
glory and power
belong to you forever and ever.
As for us, when the
time comes our tree
will be cut down and
its branches
cut off and its fruit
scattered.
And we will be taken
where we do not
wish to go; but none
of this will matter,
for your steadfast
love will abide with us.

‘Cut down the tree and chop off its branches,

1 Pet. 4:11
Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of
God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God
may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever
and ever. Amen.
John 21:18
“…Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to
fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wished. But when you grow old, you will stretch out
your hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where
you do not wish to go.” [The Risen
Christ to Peter]
