We cannot pray as you
prayed, Lord Jesus;
but open us enough to
your will that we
can eat what you have
set before us,
even if it be a
scroll of bad news.
Whether wise or
foolish, we shall die,
leaving behind prized
possessions.
That is all right;
our possessions
are not ultimately
important.
Grace and mercy
in time of need
are of infinitely
greater value;
and these we shall
receive,
as you have assured us.

When we look at the wise, they die;
fool and dolt perish together
and leave their wealth to others.
fool and dolt perish together
and leave their wealth to others.
Ezek. 3:1
[The LORD] said to me, O mortal, eat what is offered to you;
eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.

Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so
that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him
Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray.
