You do not despise or abhor the affliction of the afflicted;

you do not hide your face from them; why should we?

Cast away from us all our transgressions, Jesus,

and give us a new heart and a new spirit.

Then send us into the world, as God

has sent you into the world.

And may the peace of God,

which surpasses all understanding,

guard our hearts and minds in you, O Christ.
