Good Teacher, as we set
out on our journey,
what shall we do to
inherit eternal life?
We kneel before you to
ask, not as Absalom
deceitfully prostrated
himself before his father,
but because we want to
know.
Keep us from following
the advice of the wicked,
or taking the path that
sinners tread,
or sitting in the seat
of scorners.
Teach us rather to
delight in following your will
and meditating on your
word;
and like Mnason, may we
show hospitality
to others who journey.

Psalm 1:1-2
Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the
paths that sinners tread,
or sit in the
seat of the scoffers;
but their delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law
they meditate day and night.
2 Samuel 14:33
Then Joab went to the king and told him; and he summoned
Absalom. So he came to the king and
prostrated himself with his face to the ground before the king; and the king
kissed Absalom.

Some of the disciples from Caesarea also came along and brought
us to the house of Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we were to
stay.

As [Jesus] was setting out on a journey, a man ran up and
knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit
eternal life?”
