Holy Spirit, I call on you;
help me in my weakness.
In truth I do not know
how to pray as I ought;
be near to me, intercede
with sighs too deep
for words.
Our world calls us to war,
and those who do not comply
are condemned for letting others
do the fighting and dying for us.
I can well understand the point.
But Jesus calls us to be humble
and to be a loving servant.
In a nuclear world how
shall we serve?

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.
Matt. 23:11-12
“…The greatest among you will be your servant.  All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.”  [Jesus, to the crowds and to his disciples]
