There was one, God--one, who loved you
with all his heart and with all his soul.
In meekness and gentleness he loved you,
knowing where this would lead him.
He would be mocked, insulted, spat upon,
flogged, killed. He knew this well.
For him alone our soul waits in silence,
for from him comes our salvation.
