I am an emeritus professor from Cornell University and was a Commissioned Lay Preacher in the Presbyterian Church (USA). For many years I have followed the Daily Lectionary as printed in the Mission Yearbook of my church. For each day of a two-year cycle, the lectionary lists four psalms and three other scriptural passages--usually one from the Old Testament and two from the New Testament. My practice is to copy down a verse or two from one of the psalms and from each of the other three passages. After I have written out all four selections, I reflect upon them, rearrange their order, and incorporate them into a meditation. Sometimes I retain much of the original wording; sometimes all that remains of a selection is an idea that was stimulated when I read the original words. All selections are from the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible. For the Daily Lectionary, see the link below.

Glory, All Glory to Your Name--March 3, 2019

Lord Jesus Christ, the glory is yours;
though human, you abound in glory,
in dominion and glory and kingship,
so that everyone should serve you.

Jesus, you have redeemed our lives,
crowned us with love and mercy,
and satisfied us with good
as long as we live.
Glory to your
name.

Selected Verses
Ps. 103:4-5
…who redeems your life from the Pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
…who satisfies you with good as long as you live
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

To [one like a human being] was given dominion
          and glory and kingship,
that all peoples, nations, and languages
          should serve him.

2 Cor. 3:8-9
…how much more will the ministry of the Spirit come in glory?  For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, much more does the ministry of justification abound in glory!

John 12:28
"…Father, glorify your name."  Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."
